Driver of Lexus Shoots at Opel Driver on David Bek Street in Yerevan

On July 19, 2021, at 16:50, a citizen reported that around 11:00 that day, while driving an Opel vehicle along David Bek Street towards Artsakh Street, he was shot at by the driver of a Lexus with a handgun.

According to preliminary information, the Lexus vehicle, signaling with sirens and flashing lights, requested to pass behind the Opel. In response, the Opel driver yielded the right of way. Subsequently, the Lexus moved out in front of the car that had given way, causing both vehicles to brake on the right side of the road. The driver of the Lexus then fired two shots towards the Opel with his handgun, damaging the hood of the Opel, before speeding away from the scene.

A criminal case has been initiated by the New Nork division of the RA Police under the provisions of Article 258, Part 4 of the RA Criminal Code. The case has been sent to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, specifically to the Avan and New Nork administrative district investigation division for further proceedings. An examination of the scene and the vehicles involved has been conducted. In order to clarify significant circumstances related to the criminal case, examinations have been appointed. The investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the incident, to locate the individual who fired the shots, and to recover the firearm involved in the crime for presentation to the prosecuting body.
