VIDEO: A New Russian Fighter Jet Has Been Created; Putin Familiarizes Himself with Its Capabilities

Russian President Vladimir Putin was acquainted with the capabilities of the single-engine Checkmate fighter jet during the opening of the MAKS-2021 International Aviation and Space Salon in Zhukovsky, near Moscow. The first deliveries of the fighter are expected to begin in 5.5 years, as reported by RIA Novosti.

The Sukhoi TMMI is Russia's first fifth-generation light multifunctional fighter. As previously stated by Dmitry Shugaev, Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, this aircraft possesses promising characteristics, including high flight performance, extensive strike and reconnaissance capabilities, state-of-the-art electronic equipment, and low radar visibility.

During the exhibition, the head of state was also presented with the Ansat-M helicopter, an upgraded version of the serial Ansat light helicopter, as well as the new Ka-62 medium multifunctional helicopter, the upgraded heavy-class Ka-32A11M helicopter, the VRT300 unmanned helicopter, and the Mi-171A3, the first specialized Russian helicopter designed for flying over maritime platforms.
