Meeting of the Armenian President with a Member of the European Parliament

The President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, hosted Natalie Loiseau, the President of the Security and Defense Subcommittee of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs, today. Loiseau is a Member of Parliament from France and the head of the delegation for the 'La République en Marche' party in the European Parliament. This information was provided by the press service of the President of Armenia.

The meeting was also attended by Jonathan Lacôte, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the French Republic to Armenia.

Natalie Loiseau informed Sarkissian that she is also planning to visit Artsakh to get acquainted personally with the situation and issues, in order to understand potential avenues for support from the European Union and France to Armenia and Artsakh.

The Armenian President expressed his gratitude to the European parliamentarian for her visit to Armenia and her intention to travel to Artsakh, as well as for the continuous attention shown to the issues of Armenia and Artsakh.

During the meeting, Sarkissian addressed the situation created after the war and shared his observations regarding the future development directions of Armenia. He emphasized the importance of support from both the European Union and France in strengthening the country and deepening cooperation in targeted areas.

In the context of the country’s development, the Armenian President highlighted the implementation of constitutional changes and the adoption of a new constitution with effective checks and balances, which would contribute both to the democratic progress of the country and allow for the full and effective involvement of the human resources of the diaspora in the development processes of the homeland.

President Sarkissian and the European Parliament member exchanged thoughts on regional issues as well.
