Circumstances Leading to the Accidental Death of a 33-Year-Old Woman in a Pool Revealed
On July 19, 2021, at 17:40, a report was received from the "Abovyan" Medical Center indicating that a female resident of Yerevan, born in 1988, had been transported there with a diagnosis of clinical and biological death. According to the emergency physician's statement, she was pulled out of the pool in an unconscious state.
During the preparation of materials regarding the incident, factual data was obtained indicating that around 15:40 on the same day, the woman was sitting on the concrete railing of the pool in a recreational area in the Arzni community when her friend approached her unnoticed and pushed her into the water-filled pool.
Considering that the materials prepared contained legal grounds and reasons for initiating a criminal case, a criminal case was opened in the Kotayk Regional Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia under Part 1 of Article 109 of the RA Criminal Code.
The woman’s friend has been selected as a preventive measure with a signature not to leave and has been questioned regarding the circumstances of the incident.
An inspection of the scene was carried out during which recordings from local security cameras were collected. To determine the cause of the woman's death, a forensic examination of the body has been appointed.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigative and other procedural actions are being taken to clarify all the circumstances of the case, to conduct an objective and comprehensive investigation, and to verify the circumstances indicated in the testimonies.
