Armenia to Participate in Dubai Expo 2020

The "Dubai Expo 2020" World Exhibition will be held in Dubai, UAE, from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, after being postponed due to restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic. The Armenian Ministry of Economy's Information and Public Relations Department reports that Armenia will participate with its own pavilion at the expo.

This global expo is expected to be the largest and oldest in the world, with participation from 192 countries, a record number for organized expositions so far. Conducted every five years, the event allows all nations to showcase their attractions under one roof for six months. Organizers expect around 25 million visits from local and foreign guests.

According to a decision by the Prime Minister of Armenia, the Minister of Economy has been appointed as the chief commissioner responsible for coordinating work related to Armenia's participation in the "Dubai Expo 2020." Following negotiations with the Emirati side, the expo's organizers have provided a support package and special conditions for Armenia's participation. The support package is estimated to include around $1.5 million worth of free goods and services.

The international exhibition will showcase the cultural, educational, scientific, and economic values and heritage of various countries and peoples. Each delegation will be represented under 11 different themes. The exhibition space will be divided into three zones, named "Sustainability," "Mobility," and "Opportunity." Armenia's pavilion will be located in the "Opportunity" section.

During the 11 thematic weeks of the exhibition, Armenia will demonstrate its potential and investment opportunities in advanced technological fields, which may create real opportunities for establishing new business connections and promoting its cultural heritage.

During the "Dubai Expo 2020," a four-day exhibit titled "Made in Armenia" will also be organized, featuring Armenian companies. This will provide an opportunity not only to present Armenian products and services in the global market but also to create business connections, find foreign partners, and attract investors. The exhibition will include displays of Armenian goods and cuisine, as well as designated areas for product sales.

The concept of Armenia's participation is based on the idea of "Ethnotech," presenting the country to the world with its ethnic characteristics and technological ambitions. The pavilion's concept is developed along the same lines. Visitors will experience Armenia’s identity through technical and technological solutions, digital and interactive elements, showcasing features of Armenian identity, global figures of Armenian descent, and inventions.

The pavilion's branding at "Dubai Expo 2020" will resemble a QR code at first glance, representing modern means of information dissemination. The logo features a pixelated image of the Tree of Life, a symbol from ancient carpet weaving, colored in the hues of the Armenian flag.

Global exhibitions are considered significant events for presenting economic, scientific-technical, and cultural values, serving as a platform for showcasing a country’s history, culture, and economy, exchanging innovative ideas and achievements, and presenting approaches to addressing the global challenges of the future.
