The Shooter in Downtown Yerevan is the Brother of a Notorious Businessman

On July 18, gunshots were reported in Yerevan. Around 21:30, the operational management center of the Yerevan police received a call regarding gunfire near the National Security Service office on Amiryan Street. According to shamshyan.com from the scene, the Deputy Chief of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, Aram Hovhannisyan, the head of the Yerevan police, Sevan Kocharyan, the first deputy head of the police of the city, Arthur Zakaryan, and the head of the criminal investigation department, Hovhannes Aristakesyan, arrived at the scene. The Chief of the Main Directorate of Criminal Police of the Republic of Armenia, Vardan Vardanyan, also arrived.

Blood-like traces and fired cartridges were found at the scene. Currently, investigators from the Yerevan investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia are working at the site, led by the head of the department, Aram Ayvazyan, and the deputy head, Nerses Muradyan.

According to site information, police and investigators have determined that one individual with gunshot wounds has been transported to the number 1 university hospital. Authorities are trying to establish the identity of the injured. Special forces from the Yerevan police are conducting reinforced operations at the scene.

Several citizens gathered at the site, who refused to speak in front of the camera, stated: “The bullet is in the field of police and investigators. Well, let's see how long it will take to discover this impudent person, who considers himself unpunished for firing shots in the city center. It is probably already known to the police and investigators that the shooter is the brother of one of the notorious businessmen in Armenia, and that erroneous images of an unrelated vehicle with the license plate 01 LN 015 are being circulated, implying that the shots were fired from that vehicle, which has nothing to do with the incident.”
