Police Locate Suspect in Stabbing Incident on Northern Avenue
Patrol officers and Central Criminal Investigation Department detectives identified the person responsible for a stabbing incident on Northern Avenue in Yerevan just minutes after it occurred on July 14, reported the Public Relations and Information Department of the Armenian Police.
“On July 14, at 6 PM, a citizen called the police to report a stabbing on Northern Avenue. The alert was passed from the operational management center to the Central Police Department and nearby patrol officers. As a result of immediate measures, a suspicious 'Toyota' vehicle was found at the intersection of Sayat-Nova and Teryan streets. The 39-year-old driver was detained on suspicion of stab injury. He was already at the police station when the hospital reported that a man, unable to explain himself, was being transported with stab wounds for medical assistance,” reads the report.
According to the source, a criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and the detained man has been arrested. Measures are being taken to locate the weapon used in the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
The person suspected of the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia and a legally binding court judgment.
