Investigative Committee Reports on Gunfire Incident: Criminal Case Initiated
On July 18, 2021, around 7:30 PM, a report was received regarding gunfire at 18 Amiryan Street in Yerevan. On the same day, a report was also received from the Armenia Medical Center regarding a U.S. citizen, born in 1979, who sought medical assistance for a gunshot wound to the lower extremity. As a result of operational and investigative measures, it was determined that the individual admitted to the medical center sustained the gunshot injury during an incident that occurred at 18 Amiryan Street in Yerevan.
This information was reported by the Investigative Committee. A criminal case has been initiated in the second division of the investigative department of the Yerevan investigative administration based on Article 258, Part 4, and Article 235, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
According to preliminary data, unknown individuals grossly violated public order, displaying overt disrespect towards society. Around 7:30 PM, at 18 Amiryan Street in Yerevan, they argued with each other, resulting in physical altercations, during which one of the attendees sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
During the investigation, the crime scene was examined, during which three 9mm cartridges and blood-like traces were discovered. Samples have been taken, forensic, medical, and biological expertise has been appointed, several witnesses have been interviewed, and recordings from security cameras at the scene have been reviewed.
The investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigative and other procedural actions are being undertaken, as well as operational and investigative measures to clarify all circumstances of the incident, the motive, the complete identity of those involved, and to discover the firearm used in the crime, presenting it to the prosecuting body.
