Gunfire Reported in the Border Village of Kut
Last night, around 10 PM, we heard gunfire and went out into the yard to see what was happening. This was reported to Tert.am by the mayor of Kut village in Gegharkunik region, Sima Chitchyan.
“After that, there was no response; we still don't know what it was, whether they were shooting into the air or what. There was no answer,” he noted, adding that the shots were not from a rifle but rather from a DShK (a type of heavy machine gun).
“Other villagers heard it as well; they called and said, I confirmed that I had also heard it,” he said, adding that the situation is currently calm.
It should be noted that since May 12, the Azerbaijani armed forces have breached the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, advancing several kilometers into the sovereign territory of Armenia in the Syunik and Gegharkunik regions. They have not withdrawn from these areas to this day. During this time, numerous incidents between Azerbaijani and Armenian soldiers, as well as between residents, have been recorded.
