Gevorg Danielyan Proposes Legislation for Sole Pretrial Measure of Arrest and Single Punishment of Imprisonment

Former Minister of Justice Gevorg Danielyan has stated on his Facebook page: "In order to avoid political persecutions, or rather to prevent them from being classified as such, I propose to legislate a single type of pretrial measure—arrest—and a single type of punishment—imprisonment. I also suggest abolishing the norms regarding statutes of limitations, granting retroactive effect to aggravating laws, and immediately implementing similar reforms. I am confident that besides local sober and dedicated lawyers, European experts and potential friendly neighboring countries will again warmly applaud and justify this progressive experience...."
