Constitutional Court to Announce Ruling Today: What to Expect

Today, on July 17, the Constitutional Court is set to announce its ruling regarding the complaint submitted by four political forces. Recall that on July 2, the "Hayastan" and "Honorary Right" alliances, along with the "Zartonk" and "Homeland of Armenians" parties, appealed to the Constitutional Court, demanding the annulment of the results of the extraordinary parliamentary elections held on June 20 or the designation of a second round of elections.

According to information from the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, the political forces do not have any expectations from the Constitutional Court and believe that nothing will change, for which the parties that have entered parliament are planning their activities in parliament. Our sources in the government report that following the publication of the Court's ruling, the authorities intend to swiftly organize the distribution of parliamentary mandates.

According to our information, the issue of mandate distribution has been discussed with the Central Election Commission, and it is likely to take place during the period of July 22-23; however, there is still no final decision. After that, it will be announced when the first session of the eighth convocation of the parliament will take place. It is said that it will occur on August 2. The authorities aim to quickly form the executive body and appoint members of the government thereafter.
