Statement of the Supreme Judicial Council Regarding Ruben Vardazaryan's Application
The Supreme Judicial Council of Armenia has issued a statement addressing the application submitted by Ruben Vardazaryan to the Council.
The statement reads: “On April 15 of this year, the Supreme Judicial Council suspended the powers of the Chairman, Ruben Vardazaryan, until the completion of the criminal proceedings initiated against him (under the first part of Article 165 of the Constitutional Law of the Judicial Code of the Republic of Armenia).”
The court has made a judicial act regarding the decision to involve Ruben Vardazaryan as a defendant in the criminal prosecution initiated by the Prosecutor General, stating: “To satisfy the claim of complainant Ruben Vardazaryan and to oblige the authority conducting the proceedings to eliminate the violations of R. Vardazaryan’s rights and legal interests,” and that “the decision can be appealed to the Criminal Court of Appeal of the Republic of Armenia within ten days from the time of publication.”
Based on the mentioned judicial act, Ruben Vardazaryan has submitted an application to the Supreme Judicial Council, expecting a review of the decision on the suspension of his powers.
The Supreme Judicial Council indicates that the recipient of the decision of the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction No. ED/0308/11/21 is not the Supreme Judicial Council, and therefore, the Council cannot address the issue of reviewing the decision on suspending R. Vardazaryan's powers until the completion of the criminal proceedings that served as the basis for the suspension of R. Vardazaryan’s powers.
