Taliban Offer Three-Month Ceasefire with a Condition
The Taliban movement has proposed a three-month ceasefire to the Afghan government, as reported by Nader Naderi, a member of the Afghan government delegation in negotiations with the Taliban in Doha, Qatar.
According to Naderi, in exchange for the ceasefire, the Taliban demands the release of 7,000 prisoners who are supporters of the movement, as reported by TASS.
“The Taliban have proposed a three-month ceasefire, but have required that the Afghan government release 7,000 detainees who are their supporters. This is a serious demand; we have already seen that the release of 5,000 Taliban members did not improve the situation and even led to increased tensions,” Naderi said at a press conference in Kabul.
