Special 'Clean' Zones for Vaccinated Tourists

Special 'Clean' Zones for Vaccinated Tourists

Starting July 15, restaurants, hotels, bars, and entertainment centers in Greece will undergo changes in their operations, establishing 'clean' zones exclusively for vaccinated individuals and those who have recovered from COVID-19. This initiative aims to encourage vaccination among the population.

'Clean' and 'mixed' zones will be available not only in public dining establishments but also in cinemas, theaters, and venues hosting entertainment and sports events. However, establishments housing immunized customers must limit their occupancy to no more than 85 percent from July 16 to August 31. The visitor limit in the unvaccinated zone is capped at 50 percent.

Business owners will have to decide whether to admit only vaccinated and recovered individuals or allow entry to everyone. For visitors of indoor facilities and entertainment centers, a negative coronavirus test will be mandatory. Additionally, a test will be required for entry into an outdoor venue functioning as a 'mixed zone.'

Entry control will be administered through an application that verifies the authenticity of vaccination or recovery certificates. If a visitor attempts to enter without being vaccinated or having taken a test, the establishment’s owners may call the police to impose appropriate sanctions on the violator. If the establishment fails to act, it will face fines.

These measures will also apply to tourists. The government maintains that regulations applying to Greek citizens will include guests. Vaccinated foreign visitors must also present proof of vaccination or recovery, or a negative test result, depending on their location.
