Newborn Found Near Gyumri Bus Station to Soon Have Foster Family

The 11-day-old infant has become a beloved member of the pediatric hospital staff. Every shift, doctors and nurses take turns feeding and caring for him with motherly warmth. The healthy and growing boy has no shortage of concerned citizens and those interested in his well-being. Every day and every hour, visitors come to the hospital, bringing necessary items along with letters expressing a desire to care for and raise the child. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have been unable to locate the biological parents, and the healthy boy cannot remain in the hospital for long.

What happens in such cases when the parents simply do not appear? The process is systematic and involves several linked entities: the regional administration, the municipality, and social integration centers. The primary responsibilities lie with the guardianship and oversight body of the Gyumri municipality. Inside the hospital, he is known as Haik, but according to his birth certificate, his name is Aren.

The guardianship body has been tasked with resolving the issue of the child's naming. “The child already has a birth certificate. We've also received applications from two families, and we have conducted interviews with family members and prepared all the documentation. Within the next two days, we will hand the child over to foster care,” said Edward Baghramyan, the head of the guardianship and oversight commission of the Gyumri municipality, in an interview with SHANTNEWS.am.
