Lufthansa Airlines Enters the Armenian Market
Negotiations that have been ongoing for a considerable time have reached a conclusion, and starting from August 13 of this year, Lufthansa Airlines will enter the Armenian market. This information comes from Armenia International Airports.
It is noted that the airline will operate flights on the Frankfurt (Germany)-Yerevan-Frankfurt (Germany) route, with a frequency of three flights per week. Flights from Frankfurt to Yerevan will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, while flights from Yerevan to Frankfurt will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Lufthansa is part of the Lufthansa Group, which already has a significant presence in Armenia. The Austrian Airlines has been operating flights from Vienna to Yerevan for the past 20 years. Brussels Airlines currently offers five weekly flights from Brussels to Yerevan, and Eurowings will soon operate direct flights from Cologne starting August 5, 2021.
“As Lufthansa Group airlines, we are pleased to expand our presence at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport and introduce our new Yerevan-Frankfurt route with three weekly flights. Following the successful operation of Austrian Airlines to Yerevan for the past 20 years, starting from August 13, our major carrier, Lufthansa, will enter the market and provide our travelers from Armenia with more opportunities to connect with the world. With these new connections, the Lufthansa Group will soon offer up to 16 weekly flights from Yerevan to Vienna, Brussels, Cologne, and Frankfurt,” said Rene Koichak, General Manager of Sales for Ukraine, Belarus, Turkmenistan, and the South Caucasus.
