Aram Gasparyan, Key Figure in Creation of 'Alpha', Detained; We Will Closely Monitor Developments

The Union of Reserve Officers of the National Security Service (NSS) has issued a statement on its Facebook page regarding Aram Gasparyan, who has been detained. Gasparyan, a key figure in the establishment of 'Alpha', was detained after retiring from his position as department head at the Zangezur Copper Molybdenum Combine.

In response to a journalist's question about the reason for his detention, an NSS lieutenant colonel stated, 'Perhaps my former colleagues missed me.' It is noteworthy that Aram Gasparyan is also known by his nickname Chiko (it is common for combat units in special services to give fighters nicknames). He has been awarded the 'Combat Service' medal for excellent service, along with numerous commendations from the NSS and police, and a jubilee medal from the NSS. He has made significant contributions in all wars in Artsakh, miraculously surviving the injuries he sustained in the first war.

Also detained was Tigran Nersisyan, a security major who has received multiple awards during his long service, including the 'Combat Service' medal and is a master of sports in the former Soviet Union (nickname: Chuk). The Union of Reserve Officers of the NSS announces that it will closely monitor developments, as it cannot remain indifferent to the fate of colleagues who dedicated their best years to the country. It will do everything possible to keep the process free from political motives and exploitation.
