Shooting Incident in Goris: New Details Emerge

On July 13, shots were fired in Goris. At around 00:30, the Goris Medical Center alerted the Goris Police Department that two citizens with gunshot wounds had been admitted to their facility.

According to Shamshyan.com, doctors informed the police and investigators that the injured were unable to provide details about the incident as they were undergoing surgery.

While doctors were fighting for the lives of the victims, police and investigators identified them as Goris residents Harutyun Vardanyan and Melikset Barseghyan, who were transported from an area adjacent to the Axel Bakunts monument in Goris. Reports indicate that a shootout reminiscent of an action film occurred at the mentioned location, during which the individuals sustained injuries.

It has been revealed that H. Vardanyan is a friend of Siunik Province Governor Melikset Poghosyan, while M. Barseghyan is the brother-in-law of former Siunik Province Governor Surik Khachatryan.

Considering the degree of danger posed by the crime, Siunik Province Prosecutor Eduard Harutyunyan also arrived at the scene. Numerous spent shell casings from an automatic weapon and traces of blood were discovered at the site.

As reported by Vardan Tadevosyan, press secretary of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, a criminal case has been initiated in the Goris Investigative Division under Article 112, Part 1 and Article 235, Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code.
