Samvel Alaverdyan, who sustained fatal injuries in the Yeraskh section, was a father of two minors

On the morning of July 14, a contract serviceman, private Samvel Alaverdyan, sustained fatal gunshot wounds due to an Azerbaijani armed forces provocation in the Yeraskh section of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. His friend, Razmik Arshakyan, reported this to NEWS.am.

“Samvel’s parents are disabled. His wife also works, but they live in difficult social conditions,” said Razmik Arshakyan.

The 38-year-old Samvel Alaverdyan had been serving in the Defense Army for two years as a contract soldier. He was a participant in the 44-day war.

It is noteworthy that a conflict occurred in the Yeraskh section of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border in the morning. Azerbaijani military units attempted to carry out engineering works to advance their positions. Following the Armenian side’s retaliatory actions, Azerbaijani servicemen opened targeted fire toward Armenian positions, resulting in the fatal injuries of contract serviceman Samvel Alaverdyan. There were also losses on the Azerbaijani side.

Samvel Alaverdyan will be buried at the “Yerablur” military pantheon on July 16.
