My Step MPs Propose Increasing Parliamentary Activity Expenses from 50,000 to 250,000 Dram

“This is immorality... People, just think about it: on the day when one soldier is killed, and two soldiers go missing, this country is reducing its military personnel for economic savings. In this country, where soldiers today are denied basic living conditions and we are managing to deliver basic necessities from cigarettes to tents, from tents to clothes and shoes, to bulletproof vests, people are introducing a law to increase parliamentary expense allowances from 50,000 to 250,000. This was stated by MP Sofia Hovsepyan on her Facebook page.

It should be noted that the National Assembly will discuss the bill on amendments to the law on the remuneration of public officials and public service personnel at an extraordinary session on July 15, where it is proposed to increase the monthly expenses related to parliamentary activities for each MP from 50,000 dram to 250,000 dram. The authors of the bill are My Step MPs Viktor Yengibaryan and Nikolay Baghdasaryan.

Additionally, the National Assembly of Armenia will convene for an extraordinary session on July 15 at the initiative of the government. The agenda includes four legislative initiatives. The MPs will discuss amendments to the law on state duties, the amendments concerning the remuneration of public officials and public service personnel, amendments to the code of administrative offenses of the Republic of Armenia, and the ratification of the amendment to the loan agreement regarding the improvement program of the Armenia-Georgia border regional road (M6 Vanadzor-Bagratashen) with the Asian Development Bank (Loan No. 3449-ARM).
