ICRC Representatives Visit Captured Armenians in Baku

Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) visited captive Armenian individuals in Baku. Zara Amatuni, head of communication programs for the ICRC in Armenia, informed Lurern that as a neutral mediator, they continue regular visits to Armenian prisoners of war and civilians held in Azerbaijan.

The ICRC does not publish statistical data regarding Armenian captives in Azerbaijan. Following the return of 15 Armenian prisoners on July 3, Azerbaijan currently confirms the captivity of 45 individuals.

Zara Amatuni (Head of Communication Programs, ICRC Delegation in Armenia) noted that the latest visit by ICRC representatives to Armenian captives in Azerbaijan took place in late June and early July. It is noteworthy that these visits have occurred for individuals whose captivity has been officially acknowledged by Azerbaijani authorities. During these visits, all captured Armenians were also given the opportunity to record video messages for their families, as well as to make phone calls and write letters.
