Arush Arushanyan Will Not Attend Discussion of Motion Filed Against Him at CEC
The Mayor of Goris, Arush Arushanyan, has received a notification from the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) regarding his attendance at the discussion of a motion filed against him by the prosecutor's office. However, he does not plan to attend the meeting. This was stated by Arush Arushanyan's lawyer, Erik Aleksanyan, on his Facebook page.
He particularly noted, “We do not intend to attend the CEC meeting at 10:00 AM tomorrow alongside Arush Arushanyan, as the decision regarding this issue has already been predetermined, and we do not want to become mere participants in a formal procedure. At the same time, we declare that Arush Arushanyan will duly present himself to the investigator upon every summons from the investigating authority. Honorable colleagues, we are not dealing with a legal process here; this is purely a political persecution, and therefore we do not consider ourselves worthy of participating in such formal proceedings. A process in which our voice will not truly be heard substantively. The legal system in the Republic of Armenia has collapsed.”
