A Revolt is Brewing: CEC Has Yet to Pay Election Commission Members' Salaries

The newspaper “Iravunk” reports: Following the snap parliamentary elections held on June 20, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) is obligated to pay all members of the electoral commission, as well as the secretaries and chairpersons, within 10 working days. It turns out that the CEC has not transferred any funds to the commission members to date.

In a conversation with “Iravunk,” one commission member stated that they had applied to VTB Bank to receive the funds, but the bank indicated that due to the negligence of the CEC, the corresponding lists have not been provided to the bank yet.

“Iravunk” reached out to CEC spokesperson Hermine Harutyunyan to understand why the commission members have not received the amounts owed to them. In response to our inquiry, the CEC spokesperson stated that work is in progress, and the CEC is operating under a highly loaded regime.

It is noteworthy that the CEC does not seem to be aware that despite the workload, it is required to pay the commission members their entitled 68,000 dram salary within 10 working days.
