Video: One soldier killed and five hospitalized in car accident

On July 10, 2021, around 02:00, a contract soldier of the Armenian Ministry of Defense driving an "Opel Astra" collided with a "UAZ Patriot" vehicle belonging to another military unit of the Ministry of Defense on the 14th km section of the Yeraskh-Yerevan highway. As a result of the car accident, the UAZ vehicle overturned.

Six contract soldiers sustained injuries and were hospitalized, one of whom unfortunately died on the way to the hospital.

In connection with the incident, the Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia has initiated a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code.

The driver of the "Opel Astra" has been arrested on suspicion of violating traffic safety requirements and rules governing road traffic or the operation of vehicles.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to clarify all circumstances of the accident and to conduct an objective and comprehensive investigation.

Notice: A suspect in a presumed crime is considered innocent until proven guilty by a court decision, as stipulated by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
