Police Internal Security Officers Expose Traffic Police Officer's Illegal Activities

The officers of the Internal Security Department of the Police of Armenia revealed illegal activities conducted by one of the inspectors of the Traffic Police during this year, based on operational-investigative measures and a service investigation.

The Police of Armenia reports that an inspector promised to arrange the issuance of a driving license for a 'B' category mechanical vehicle for a person in exchange for $200.

It was also revealed that the same inspector took 150,000 AMD from a man in return for successfully organizing the process of obtaining a driving license.

In another incident, a man became involved in a road traffic accident. His vehicle did not have a valid insurance contract. After the accident, the inspector altered the positions of the vehicles and changed the accident circumstances, thus obscuring the identity of the culpable driver. He then went to the scene with other Traffic Police officers and organized the registration of the accident using the previously mentioned mechanism.

Furthermore, while the road police were preparing to compile an administrative violation report against a person for not having an insurance contract, the inspector called the road police officers and intervened in their actions, asking them not to draft the report.

It was also found that the traffic police officer stopped a man's car, which had tinted windows, and the driver did not have a driving license. The inspector contacted the road police officer and agreed to have the report drawn not in the name of the driver but in the name of another individual.

In another episode, the same inspector learned that a minor, who did not have the right to drive, had collided with a parked vehicle. Following the accident, the inspector reached an agreement with the boy's father to repair the parked vehicle, in return for not registering the accident.

The materials of the service investigation were sent to the Special Investigative Service, where a criminal case was initiated and a pre-investigation is underway.
