In Yerevan, a 16-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shot and Injured
On July 9, at 01:40 AM, the police received a report from a hospital regarding a 16-year-old boy who had been admitted for gunshot wounds to the thigh. The boy stated that he sustained the injury near the Zeytun cemeteries.
The police reported that thanks to the joint efforts of the Yerevan city police and the Kanaker-Zeytun division, it was determined that a 29-year-old man accidentally caused the injury to the boy with a smoothbore rifle near the Kanaker cemetery. As a result of measures taken and explanatory work, the young man presented himself to the Kanaker-Zeytun police station and explained that on June 8, he had found a rifle under items in their garage and wished to show it to a young acquaintance. However, while taking the rifle out of a bag, he accidentally touched the trigger, resulting in an unintentional discharge of the firearm that injured the boy in the thigh.
The young man turned over the shortened smoothbore shotgun to the police, stating that it belonged to his deceased father. Expert examinations have been appointed, and materials are being prepared.
