Eduardo Eurnekian: We are inclined to make large-scale investments in Armenia

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hosted national hero of Armenia, Argentine-Armenian businessman and philanthropist Eduardo Eurnekian.

In his remarks, Pashinyan stated: “Dear Mr. Eurnekian, I welcome you to Yerevan. I am glad to have our regular meeting. Your visit, such meetings are always important because you are one of the key investors in the Republic of Armenia and particularly one of the most significant investors from the Diaspora in the Republic of Armenia. Therefore, your investment inclinations, I believe, also predetermined the overall investment climate in the Republic of Armenia.”

“Our country has gone through very difficult trials. Just days ago, in the elections held on June 20, our government reaffirmed its mandate under the slogan 'There is a future.' And I hope that your agenda and mood are geared towards restoring the economic optimism and belief in the future of our country. Your personal involvement is highly valued here,” he added.

In turn, Eduardo Eurnekian congratulated Nikol Pashinyan on the victory of the Civil Contract party in the elections and added: “Mr. Prime Minister, I am very touched by your words. Unfortunately, the pandemic has made changes in all our agendas, in terms of time, space, and flights, but it seems we are overcoming that, and I am here. Mr. Prime Minister, I didn’t want to let too much time pass; I wanted to come as soon as possible to congratulate you on your victory because it is very important, and we always supported your win from the very beginning.”

“We are investing in various sectors in Armenia. And we are inclined to continue making large-scale investments in Armenia. We are currently in negotiations with a bank. We see good growth in the tourism sector in Armenia, and fortunately, we will soon offer a new investment in the field of airport construction. My cousin Martin, who currently manages all of that, will arrive in Armenia very soon to connect with the person you mention about discussing the investment program,” he noted.

“We must express great satisfaction with the developments in the wine and grape-growing sector in Armenia, which we have been able to forecast, invest in, and reform. Fortunately, today those wines are widespread throughout Europe. I don’t want to take too much time from you, Mr. Prime Minister, I am at your disposal,” Eurnekian concluded.

Nikol Pashinyan and Eduardo Eurnekian discussed projects being implemented by the Armenia International Airports company. In particular, they addressed questions related to the concession management of Yerevan’s Zvartnots and Gyumri’s Shirak airports, infrastructure improvements, renovations, and further operations. The two also exchanged views on other business projects being carried out by Eurnekian’s companies in Armenia and upcoming plans.
