Customs Committee Uncovers Illegal Import of Pharmaceuticals

The fight against smuggling department and the Eastern customs office reported the discovery and prevention of more than 34 kg of various pharmaceuticals and related packaging during an inspection at the "Bagratashen" state border checkpoint.

Officials from the fight against smuggling department monitored a vehicle operated by a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, G.M., arriving from Georgia. As a result, various paper boxes containing a total of 6.45 kg of pharmaceuticals were found concealed within the vehicle’s dashboard, rear bumper, trunk door, and fuel tank. Additionally, approximately 28 kg of 38 different names of various types of pharmaceuticals were also discovered.

In response to this incident, materials have been prepared under Article 201 of the Armenian Customs Code at the Customs Committee’s fight against smuggling department, which have been forwarded to the legal department of the Customs Committee.
