47 Illegal Structures Dismantled in Yerevan Since June 22
The process of closing garbage chutes in residential buildings continues in Yerevan's administrative districts with the cooperation of local authorities, cooperatives, and residents. During a recent working meeting at the City Hall, the mayor was informed that approximately 860 garbage chutes have already been closed. Mayor Hayk Marutyan has instructed to carry out consistent work in all apartment buildings, emphasizing that this is the only way to address issues of odor, rats, and overall sanitation in the buildings.
Unregistered mobile vending trailers are actively being dismantled, with 30 already removed by community efforts and 10 mobile points dismantled by entrepreneurs. It is noteworthy that mobile vending points have operated solely with the permission of the City Hall since this year. This requirement is established by law, and special locations and criteria for mobile trading are defined by a council decision. An accessible electronic platform has been created for entrepreneurs to register and organize their businesses.
Under Mayor Hayk Marutyan's directive, the dismantling of illegal structures continues in various administrative districts of the capital. Since June 22, 47 illegal structures have been dismantled. Expressing gratitude to the police for their effective support, the mayor reiterated that the fight against the demolition of illegally constructed buildings, disregarding public interest, will be ongoing.
This year, the City Hall's program for replacing elevators will be organized in a way that ensures the new elevators primarily serve the hero soldiers injured in the defense of the homeland, thereby alleviating some of their burdens. For this purpose, necessary data has been analyzed, and 54 high-rise buildings where servicemen with mobility impairments reside have been selected. The purchase of accessible elevators has already taken place, and survey work is currently underway.
To ensure public order and traffic safety, intensified control has been established over the work of microbuses and buses servicing public transport in the capital. The relevant departments of the City Hall are being particularly diligent regarding the operation of new buses. A prompt response to citizens' calls has been ordered, and incidents of drivers smoking and talking on their phones during transit are to be completely eliminated.
Regarding illegal outdoor trade, Mayor Hayk Marutyan has instructed the heads of administrative districts to strengthen oversight through daily on-site inspections and take steps to eliminate this phenomenon.
