110 Individuals Detained During Entire Electoral Process

During the entire electoral process, from the day of calling elections to the day of voting, 110 individuals were detained. This was stated by Yerevan Prosecutor Sevak Hovhannisyan during the examination of applications challenging the results of the extraordinary parliamentary elections in the Constitutional Court.

The prosecutor reported that among those detained, 20 were representatives of the 'Armenia' alliance, supporters, authorized individuals, and those associated with the alliance in one way or another, 39 from the 'I Have Honor' alliance, while the remaining 51 were either from other parties or participants in the electoral process.

According to the Yerevan prosecutor, 29 searches were conducted during the electoral process, of which 7 were carried out in the homes or buildings of individuals related to the 'Armenia' alliance, 20 for the 'I Have Honor' alliance, and 2 for others. 'These searches were conducted based on properly substantiated motions regarding legal and factual grounds, backed by judicial acts issued by the courts, and we have no information on appeals regarding the legality of these acts submitted to higher judicial instances. In our opinion, the number of detained supporters of the 'Armenia' and 'I Have Honor' alliances and the number of searches conducted in their homes and buildings are proportional to the number of reports concerning manifest electoral crimes committed by them,' said Sevak Hovhannisyan.
