New Speed Cameras to Be Activated Starting Tomorrow
The Police of Armenia has announced new speed cameras and monitoring devices in Yerevan and the Armavir region.
According to the police, the lack of monitoring for compliance with the maximum speed limit creates favorable conditions for numerous drivers to exceed speed limits, contributing to the emergence of accident-prone situations. In accordance with Article 22 of the Law on Police of the Republic of Armenia, photo radar devices have been relocated from other areas and installed in the sections of the roads specified below, which will be activated starting July 12, 2021.
In the Armavir region, on Yerevanyan Street next to the church in the Parakar community, the allowed speed is 60 km/h. On the M-5 highway at the 11.2 km mark, in the administrative area of Parakar village (near the turnaround), the allowed speed is also 60 km/h. At the 10.8 km mark of the M-5 highway, adjacent to an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing in the administrative area of Parakar village, and the allowed speed is 60 km/h.
There is one speed camera operating in both directions in the administrative area of Hatzik community in Armavir region, where the allowed speed is 60 km/h. At the 23.5 km mark of the M-5 highway, near the agricultural market in the Tsitsan community, the allowed speed is 90 km/h. Additionally, at the 27.8 km mark near the operating gas station in the Arshaluyz community, there are two monitoring devices in both directions with a speed limit of 90 km/h.
In the administrative area of Metsamor city at the 36.5 km mark of the M-5 highway, the allowed speed is 60 km/h. In the administrative area of Norapat community, the speed limit is also 60 km/h. On the M-14 interstate highway in the administrative area of Shorja community in Gegharkunik region, the allowed speed is 60 km/h.
On the H-28 road from Dzhrarat to Meghrador and Khankavan in Kotayk region, specifically in the administrative area of Marmarik, the allowed speed is 60 km/h. The Road Police also informs that due to numerous violations of traffic safety legislation, which cause traffic jams and accident-prone situations, additional speed monitoring devices have been installed in the following road sections in Yerevan:
- On the section adjacent to the Davitashen bridge, monitoring will be conducted in the area before the intersection of A. Khachatryan and V. Vagharshyan streets, to ensure compliance with the requirement to separate opposing traffic flows with 'Solid Line' road markings.
- On the section adjacent to the Davitashen bridge, monitoring will also be conducted toward the intersection of A. Khachatryan and V. Vagharshyan streets, to ensure compliance with the same requirement for dividing simultaneous traffic flows.
- In the area adjacent to the Dalma Garden Mall shopping center, monitoring will focus on the roadway between the mall and the newly constructed residential building, as well as the intersection with Athens Street.
The police urge drivers to adhere to traffic regulations.
