Camera Operator Beaten by Radical Groups in Tbilisi Found Dead

Georgian TV Pirveli camera operator Alexandre Lashkarava was found dead at his home. He had been beaten by radical groups on July 5 while performing his professional duties.

We had reported that the LGBTQ community in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, was set to hold a Pride march, which was subsequently canceled. There were clashes during the planned event, resulting in injuries. More than 50 representatives of the media were also injured during these confrontations, including Alexandre, who is affectionately known by his colleagues as Lexo Lashkarava.

This morning, Georgian media reported that he was found dead in his apartment. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has announced that an investigation has been launched concerning the death of the operator.

It should be noted that Lashkarava was beaten in the office of the 'Shame' organization while he was covering the radical groups' attack on the organization's office, alongside journalist Miranda Bagaturia. According to the journalist’s account, dozens of individuals had been beating the operator for about 20 minutes.
