Will You Live in Berdzor? Kashatagh Residents Demand Housing in Armenia

“At the very least, our housing issue must be resolved; it must be addressed, otherwise, the population of 12,000 will find themselves in front of the government building,” stated Azat Yeghoyan, the head of the Kashatagh NGO, during a conversation with journalists at a protest that started in front of the government building.

Kashatagh residents are once again protesting near the government, insisting that their housing issue be finally resolved.

“Yes, work is underway. Some of the displaced wish to live in Nagorno-Karabakh, but due to a lack of construction capacity, progress is very slow. Not everyone wants to return. I repeat, the majority of our population moved to Kashatagh from the Republic of Armenia, and today, the residents of Kashatagh associate their future with their former places of residence. Now I am asking you, would you go live in Berdzor? I’m asking you. As a Yerevan resident, I lived there for 30 years, and now you are telling me not to live in Armenia, but to go live in Artsakh. Is there a Kashatagh for us to go to Kashatagh? If there is, we are ready to restore our destroyed homes,” he said.
