Thomasyan: The Issue of Grigoryan's Participation Should Have Been Raised Earlier, not Now
The Constitutional Court judge Vahe Grigoryan will participate in the review of the appeals submitted to the Constitutional Court by four political forces contesting the election results. This decision was made by the President of the Constitutional Court, Arman Dilanyan, taking into account the opinions of the court judges regarding the matter.
It is noteworthy that Ara Zohrapyan, the leader of 'Zartonk', had submitted a motion requesting that Judge Vahe Grigoryan not participate in the session. According to Zohrapyan, Grigoryan had represented the acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan not only in Armenia but also in the European Court of Human Rights, and therefore he has a biased approach.
Meanwhile, the 'Armenia' alliance had previously raised a similar issue, but the Constitutional Court had rejected the application. During today's session, Vahe Grigoryan stated that he is ready to present his explanations regarding the motion if the court decides to discuss such matters at this stage.
"I do not wish to hide behind formal requirements, as Zohrapyan's raised issue has been discussed in full during a procedural meeting," Grigoryan said.
Constitutional Court Judge Hrayr Tovmasyan insisted that the question of Grigoryan's participation should have been raised earlier, not now. This opinion was shared by Constitutional Court judges Yervand Khundaryan and Edgar Shatiryans. Judge Arthur Vagharyan also stated that this motion is subject to rejection since it has already been discussed in a procedural meeting, while Arevik Petrosyan added that this question cannot be raised by a third party but could have been raised by one of the judges.
Ultimately, the President of the Constitutional Court decided that the motion would not be discussed.
