Some Bodies of Fallen Soldiers Have Already Been Collected by Their Parents and Relatives: Avanesyan

The parents and relatives of the fallen soldiers have already collected some bodies of the deceased. This was stated by the acting Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, in response to a question from HJ.

Regarding the issue of when the announcement from the three ministries will be made, Avanesyan said that she cannot specify a date.

Earlier, Anahit Avanesyan had mentioned that if there are individuals who are unwilling to collect the already identified bodies of fallen soldiers from the morgues for various reasons, the state will take responsibility for organizing the funerals.

This refers to certain parents who, for various reasons, refuse to collect the remains of their children or relatives involved in the 44-day war.

The acting minister emphasized that the bodies of the fallen soldiers cannot remain in the morgues for an extended period, even if refrigeration conditions are available.

It is noteworthy that there are over 100 identified bodies of soldiers who died in the 44-day Artsakh war, which the relatives have not collected from the morgues for various reasons. Specific details regarding the objective and subjective reasons for parents not accepting their sons' bodies have not been disclosed. However, for instance, there are cases where parents simply do not want to accept that their son has died, believing instead that he is among the captives and will return one day.
