Foreign Language Dominates on Police Service Vehicles and Uniforms: Language Committee
The official language of the Republic of Armenia is Armenian. According to law and legal authority, the state language prevails.
It has been noted that foreign languages dominate on the information displayed on police service vehicles and the uniforms of policemen, which is not in line with Article 20 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and the Law on Language of the Republic of Armenia. This was announced by the Language Committee in response to the controversies surrounding the markings on police service vehicles and uniforms.
The Committee is taking necessary actions within the framework of its legally granted powers to clarify the circumstances related to the issue and to ensure compliance with the legal procedures established by law.
The Language Committee highly appreciates the public's commitment to the state language, which serves as an additional impetus for the Committee's daily work to ensure the supremacy of the Armenian language.
