Video: Nikol Pashinyan Meets with Gagik Tsarukyan

In the framework of consultations with leaders of various political forces, acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with the leader of the Prosperous Armenia party, Gagik Tsarukyan. Pashinyan expressed gratitude to Tsarukyan for accepting the invitation to meet and noted.

“I have already published our assessment. It is that the political crisis was overcome as a result of the parliamentary elections. We believe that it is necessary to take all possible measures to unite our national and public potential in addressing the challenges facing our country and to gather the forces of cooperation, finding the right formats. Of course, the Prosperous Armenia party has played a significant role in the political life of the Republic of Armenia for many years. As a result of these elections, it did not pass the threshold required to enter the parliament, but I believe that the party continues to be an influential force in Armenia's political life. Certainly, we have gone through difficult events in recent months, but we still had the opportunity to meet last year, albeit briefly, to discuss. I would like to hear your views on the further course of political life, on what we can do to ensure that the extra-parliamentary opposition in general, and the Prosperous Armenia party in particular, and the government are more mutually audible to each other, because I believe that especially in this situation, we need to have communication formats that allow good ideas to have the opportunity to come to life. I do not think that good ideas are born only among those who gather more votes in parliamentary elections. And if there is a desire from representatives of other political forces to share and communicate those ideas, we are ready to do our best to put them on what you might call the implementation pipeline. Therefore, it will be very interesting to hear your positions on this issue.”

Gagik Tsarukyan responded, “Mr. Prime Minister, after the elections, I expressed my gratitude to the people, the participants of the elections, and those who voted for us, as well as stated that everything is not determined by the mandate. If we do not have a mandate, it does not mean that we are not with the people, we will not communicate. We are alongside the people, we have discussed, participated, and kept them informed of our views and our approaches to how we can get out of this situation. Regardless of everything, whether we are in parliament or not, it does not mean that we are not next to our people. Anything that would be beneficial, within our capabilities, we have always done, we are doing, and we will do.”
