Three Earthquakes Recorded in Southern Georgia in One Day

On July 7, a 3.2 magnitude earthquake occurred near the village of Sameba in the Kvemo Kartli region, located 26 kilometers from the town of Dmanisi (104 kilometers from Tbilisi). The tremors were recorded at 22:20 local time, with the epicenter located 9 kilometers deep, according to the National Center for Seismic Monitoring.

This marks the third earthquake in southern Georgia within a single day. Earlier on July 7, two other earthquakes in the region registered magnitudes of around 3.

Georgia is a country with moderate seismic activity. The strongest earthquake recorded in Georgia occurred in 1991 in the Racha and Imereti regions (Western Georgia), measuring 7 on the Richter scale. The intensity at the epicenter reached 9. This earthquake resulted in approximately 200 deaths and destroyed nearly 46,000 homes and 1,000 industrial facilities.
