Taliban Claims to Have Captured 169 Districts in Afghanistan
Representative of the Taliban militant group, Zabihullah Mujahid, has informed RIA Novosti that over the past two months, the Taliban has captured a total of 169 districts across various provinces of Afghanistan.
The Taliban also claims that they have thus established control over 85% of the country's territory. In turn, the former spokesperson for the Afghan Ministry of Defense, General Dawlat Waziri, has denied this news.
"The Taliban's claim does not correspond to reality," he stated, noting that the group's representatives have previously made baseless statements claiming to control more than 60 or 70% of the territory.
