Work on the Return of Captives Will Continue, Says Russian Ambassador
The Russian authorities will continue their efforts to facilitate the return of Armenian military captives from Azerbaijan, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin stated during a conversation with journalists today.
“This issue is one of the priorities for the Russian leadership and the command of the peacekeeping contingent. Our position is known; it has been stated from the very beginning: ‘exchange - all for all’. But we will resolve it as it is possible,” said Kopirkin.
According to him, work in this direction will continue. It should be noted that the total number of returnees to Armenia is 103. Interestingly, when the number of returned captives was 88, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the verified number of Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan was 60, while the unverified figure stood at 110. Unofficial data suggests that around 200 Armenian captives continue to remain in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan acknowledges that it has 45 Armenian captives.
