Claude Joseph, the interim Prime Minister of Haiti, announced that the Council of Ministers has decided to declare a state of emergency across the republic. This decision comes in the wake of the assassination of the country's president.

“At the conclusion of the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, we have decided to declare a state of emergency throughout the country,” the official stated during a televised address, according to TASS.

Additionally, the US Embassy in Haiti has halted operations following the incident.
