Russian Military Equipment That Could Change the Rules of Engagement in Armed Conflict

Russia possesses several military assets that could alter the rules of engagement in the event of armed conflict. This is reported by the Chinese publication Huánqiú Shíbào, as cited by Sputnik Armenia.

Expert Zhang Xuefen states that such weaponry could assist Russian President Vladimir Putin in emerging victorious against NATO countries. Huánqiú Shíbào has listed three types of weapons in development in Russia that other states should be wary of.

The first is the "Sarmat" ballistic missiles, which have particularly caught the attention of the Chinese military expert. Xuefen noted that the "Sarmat" has a unique Russian style. While the West is attempting to produce light missiles powered by solid fuel for naval basing, Russia is focusing on weaponry with liquid fuel engine technology.

"The 'Sarmat' is an effective means of executing a 'nuclear first strike'," the Huánqiú Shíbào expert remarked.

Also catching Xuefen's attention is the naval-based "Zircon" hypersonic missile, whose main advantages include a low cost, small size, impressive range, and power. Citing Russian President Vladimir Putin's words, the expert stated, "The ‘Zircon’ will become the world's only hypersonic cruise missile that will genuinely be in service."

The author from Huánqiú Shíbào also highlighted the C-500 "Prometheus" air and missile defense combat system. He mentioned that the specifications of this weapon are currently kept secret, but the known facts allow for certain inferences. One thing is clear: the C-400 is aimed at targeting aerial threats and defending against tactical ballistic missiles.

"Weapons are being developed in Russia primarily to achieve breakthrough results in 'changing the rules of engagement' and delivering asymmetric strikes against adversaries," emphasized the Chinese expert. He asserted that such practices certainly warrant attention.
