Over 200 Students File Complaint at HPU: Will You Put an End to This Widespread Lawlessness?
Anna Kostanyan, a member of the Luster Armenia faction, wrote on her Facebook page: "Various phenomena that violate the best interests of students continue to exist at HPU. Recently, I received a complaint from around 200 students of HPU regarding the academic staff recruitment competition held at the university, during which, according to the students, highly qualified and popular professors were excluded.
Firstly, 1. The competition procedures did not include professional testing, interviews, or other additional stages. 2. At the Faculty of Finance, where the competition was conducted through closed secret voting, the results recorded were predominantly 'all in favor or all against,' which is at least strange in the case of closed voting. 3. The student representatives in the Faculty Council, who were nominated by the student council, did not conduct any intrafaculty discussions to ensure the representation of all students' voices in the faculty. 4. Some of the candidates for the academic staff recruitment competition were also members of the Faculty Council and practically voted for themselves (this is pure absurdity). 5. One of the members of the Faculty Council, nominated by the student council, is also an employee of HPU. 6. Students raising their voices in protest have been demanding for about 8 days that the Student Council make their voices heard at the university and protect their violated rights and students' voices (as per condition 3), but they have received no response.
This situation is more than worrying. The university is conducting an OPEN competition, the results of which have been approved within the framework of a scientific council meeting, but they are still not accessible to the public. Moreover, the HPU Student Council shows blatant indifference towards the students raising their voices in protest, which at least calls into question its competence in terms of fulfilling its powers and duties prescribed by law and its own charter.
This is not the first time HPU students have raised a wave of protest regarding the realities at the university, but they are forced to fight alone to make their voices heard. I call on the relevant authorities to quickly investigate the situation and resolve the created circumstances. Will you put an end to this widespread lawlessness, or not?"
