Kashatagh and Karvajar Regions Included in the 'Eastern Zangezur' Economic Zone: Varujan Geghamyan
Expert on Turkey Varujan Geghamyan wrote on his Facebook page: “Today, by the decree of the President of Azerbaijan, changes have been made to the administrative-territorial division of Azerbaijan according to economic regions. The new decision separates the regions of Artsakh (except for Kashatagh and Karvajar): Kashatagh and Karvajar are now included in the 'Eastern Zangezur' economic zone.
This last name is very telling; I believe you can guess that if there is an 'eastern', then there is also a 'western Zangezur', under which our neighbors envision Syunik at the political and public levels. Azerbaijan and Turkey are consistently working towards the conquest of Syunik, achieving results. They will succeed unless a national authority is established in Armenia.”
