Details Emerge About Nikol Pashinyan's Upcoming Visit to Moscow
The newspaper "Hayjogh" reports that details have emerged about the upcoming visit of acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to Moscow, where he is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to our information, among other issues, the two leaders will discuss options for deploying Russian peacekeepers along the Armenian border. Notably, Pashinyan had spoken about this option as far back as May. Specifically, on May 29, he mentioned at the office of the ruling Civil Contract Party who could be stationed at the Sotk-Khoznavar section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border if troops were withdrawn from both countries.
"If Russia agrees with this idea, it could be Russian border guards or OSCE Minsk Group co-chair observers, or both border guards and observers," he stated. At the same time, he emphasized that the forces present at the border should provide guarantees regarding the withdrawal of troops from both sides.
Now, Pashinyan is implementing this plan following his reelection. According to our information, not only this option will be discussed today but it is not excluded that a document corresponding to these provisions may be signed.
It should be noted that since May 12, the Azerbaijani side has intruded into Armenian territory in three directions and remains present in the area. However, it is still unclear where the Russian forces will be stationed and how the border will be delineated.
