Azerbaijan to Open Airport in Nagorno-Karabakh Soon
Azerbaijan is constructing "smart cities" and "smart villages" in the territories of Nagorno-Karabakh that have come under its control, one of which is located in Kovsakan (Zangelan), according to minval.az.
The country's Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mamedov has announced that the first residents will arrive in the Kovsakan "smart village" as early as January next year.
"In these areas, we are also building international airports. As you know, construction of the Fuzuli (Varanda) airport is ongoing. The airport is expected to open on September 5 of this year," the official stated.
Recall that on November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan reached an agreement on the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, and a statement was signed transferring seven regions of Artsakh to Azerbaijan, including Shushi and Hadrut, with the exception of one village, as well as the Talish and Mataghis villages from the Martakert region.
