Serious Sentiment in the Ministry of Defense: What Awaits Khachaturov

The newspaper “Zhoghovurd” reports that the contract of Major General Grigori Khachaturov, commander of the 3rd Army Corps, is about to expire. His military colleagues are awaiting a decision from the Ministry of Defense regarding whether a new contract will be signed for him to continue his service in the army.

Khachaturov's military peers are concerned that if the Ministry of Defense does not sign a new contract with him, the army will lose a serious officer. Khachaturov himself has informed close associates that he faces no age or other issues and is ready to continue his service, emphasizing that the final decision lies not with him but with the Ministry of Defense, particularly the Chief of the General Staff, Artak Davtyan.

Reports indicate that the Ministry of Defense is taking this matter quite seriously given the recent developments; the army needs to rid itself of the Khachaturovs. Additionally, when the General Staff of the Armed Forces demanded Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's resignation on February 25, Grigori Khachaturov also signed under this demand. Subsequently, on March 10, Khachaturov released a statement reiterating the call for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation.

According to sources from the Ministry of Defense, Khachaturov is expected to face the same fate as Armen Vardanyan and Ishkhan Matevosyan, meaning he will likely have to leave the army, as a new contract was not signed with them either.
