No gunfire has been heard, we are plowing to sow wheat: the mayor of Verin Shorja
The head of the Verin Shorja community, Artyom Yeranosyan, noted that the situation remains unchanged in the border area of Verin Shorja, with Azerbaijani armed forces stationed similarly at the border. 'As you know, they remain settled, and we are located 500 meters away from them.'
As previously reported, today there was an exchange of fire between Armenian and Azerbaijani soldiers in Verin Shorja, resulting in one soldier being injured. This was officially confirmed by the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.
In an interview with 'Faxinfo,' the community leader mentioned that no gunshot sounds have been heard, and agricultural activities have begun in the village, with the land being prepared for wheat sowing. 'At this moment, we are plowing to sow wheat. The locals are working in the fields. I am also in the field now, the tractor is working, we are plowing, and we are preparing to sow wheat in a month.'
We inquired whether, similar to Syunik, the Azerbaijani side is trying to impede the activities of farmers here as well, to which the community head responded that they have not faced issues so far. 'So far, we do not have such problems. I cannot say what will happen later. The tractor is working about 500 meters away from them.'
Yeranosyan highlighted that several farmers are currently unable to engage in livestock breeding as they have lost access to pastures. 'The places for grazing livestock are diminishing, farmers are left unable to graze their animals, that is the problem,' said the mayor.
