The Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian have sent condolence messages regarding the death of world-renowned duduk player Jivan Gasparyan.
Nikol Pashinyan’s message reads as follows:
“I learned with deep sorrow about the death of world-renowned duduk player Jivan Gasparyan. Throughout his artistic career, the eminent master spread the glory of the Armenian apricot tree across the world, performing on numerous prestigious stages and presenting the sounds of Armenian music in famous films, collaborating with renowned composers and globally recognized musicians. Our entire nation and the music-loving public worldwide have regarded Jivan Gasparyan as an intellectual and an exceptional figure of the Armenian, placing him among the greats of global art, which we have been proud of and inspired by. William Saroyan, after listening to Jivan Gasparyan’s performance, said, ‘Dear Jivan, this is not just music; it is a prayer.’ The prayers sung by the master will forever remain not only in the hearts and memories of Armenians but also of art lovers around the world. I share the grief of his family, colleagues, fans, and everyone in this time of great loss. Dear master, rest in peace.”
