Vahe Ghalumyan, Elected MP from the Civil Contract Party, Insults Residents of Tavush

Vahe Ghalumyan, the brother of Tavush Governor Hayk Ghalumyan and elected MP from the Civil Contract party, has found himself at the center of another scandal.

Recently, Ghalumyan made controversial statements regarding the border villages of Tavush, sparking discontent among the Tavush residents. In an interview with a media outlet, the former 'My Step' MP commented on the alleged territories being ceded to Azerbaijan, asserting that these villages are uninhabited: “Absolutely no one is there; they are villages that resemble ruins—desolate and collapsed areas,” he stated.

Residents of Tavush expressed their outrage on Facebook in response to his remarks, which did not escape the notice of the future ruling party MP. Ghalumyan, who had restricted the comment section on his personal Facebook page, has reportedly sent personal messages filled with insults to users who criticized him in news articles. One resident from the border villages sent Ghalumyan's message directed at him, and we are partially publishing it based on ethical norms. According to our interlocutor, Ghalumyan has sent similar messages to other individuals.

The future member of parliament likely does not understand that public officials should be tolerant towards their critics or has decided, before receiving his mandate from the Central Electoral Commission, to 'vent' his annoyance at his compatriots who oppose the principle of exchanging Tavush villages for enclaves,” writes News.am.
